About Coil & Crown Beauty

Coil & Crown Beauty is owned by Aminata “Ami” Taylor, whose roots are in Guinée, West Africa.

She built this brand to be more than products, it’s a community space where Black women can learn, share, and feel seen in every chapter of our hair journeys.

Natural, relaxed, loc’d, silk-pressed, braided, twisted, in sew-ins, quick weaves, clip-ins, or wigs your choices are valid, beautiful, and deserving of thoughtful care.

We make wash days softer, protective styles last longer, and wig-and-weave maintenance simpler, with education that respects you and your routine.

Our Why

For generations, we’ve navigated rules about what our hair “should” be. We choose a different path one that centers health, ease, and joy.

Guided by Ami’s West African heritage and community-first values, Coil & Crown Beauty blends science with shared wisdom to support your scalp, strands, and styling choices, whether you’re growing out a relaxer, protecting a silk press, refreshing a unit, maintaining locs, or nurturing coils.

What We Make

Care and styling essentials that work across styles and textures:

  • Hydration and slip for detangling (pre-poo to leave-in)
  • Scalp-first care for braids, locs, wigs, and weaves
  • Heat- and style-friendly protectants for presses and installs
  • Clear, step-by-step guides tailored to your look today and tomorrow

What We Believe

  • Versatility is a superpower. We support your choice each day.
  • Health over hype. Scalp care and moisture balance come first no matter the style.
  • Clarity beats complexity. Fewer, better steps that fit real life.
  • Education is freedom. Understand porosity, product pairing, and maintenance for natural, relaxed, or installed looks.
  • Community is the point. We learn from each other; your stories shape what we create.

The Coil & Crown Brand Identity Story

Come for the beauty, stay for the conversation.

Our story starts with our founder, Aminata Taylor born to a culture where hair is history, artistry, and community. From Guinée to the U.S., Ami saw how Black women show up in many looks: twist-outs on Tuesday, silk press on Friday, bussdown middle part for the weekend, knotless braids for vacation, a fresh relaxer for low-maintenance weeks, or retwisting locs for the month ahead. Each choice is personal and powerful.

Ami created Coil & Crown to be a space not just a shelf where those choices are affirmed. In salon chairs and group chats, on wash day and install day, we heard the same need: care that honors our versatility. Products that protect a press in humidity, soothe a protective-style scalp, define a coil without buildup, and preserve the luster of a favorite wig paired with instructions that actually help.

So we built this brand on three principles:

1. Honor the choice. Natural, relaxed, or installed. Your hair, your rules.
2. Teach the why. When you understand the science, maintenance becomes simple and stress-free.
3. Design for dignity. From formula to fragrance to finish, everything should feel like everyday luxury.

Our guides meet you at the sink and the vanity: how to prep hair before a sew-in, cleanse and condition under a wig, protect during heat styling, refresh braids, or deep-treat coils after takedown. We obsess over slip, pH, and residue so you can focus on feeling good.

Because when our crowns are cared for — however we wear them — we move through the world with that unmistakable glow. Coil & Crown is not about choosing one path; it’s about supporting every path with tenderness, knowledge, and results. It’s the community Ami wished existed, a welcoming circle rooted in West African heritage, built for all of us.

Welcome home. All your looks belong here.
